*How To Use This Form*

1949-1954 Pontiac Body Tags are located on the passenger side of the firewall. (1953/54 will be on the top) To use this form to decode your Body Tag please fill out the information requested from the tag on your car.

You can search all fields, or any single field

1. Style Number (StyleNo) - Will have 2 numbers (Year) [hyphen] Followed by a Style Number. Enter the first 2 numbers in the first box and the complete style number including any following letters. i.e. [51 - 2511D]

2. Trim Number (TrimNo) - This is a 4 digit number. If your tag only shows 2 digits, you must add the year of your car to the front of the numbers. (i.e. If you have a 1951 car and only have "71" listed in the style number, you must enter your style number as "5171")

3. Paint Number (PaintNo) - This must also be a 4 digit number. If your car only lists 2 digits, you must add the year infront of those 2 digits.

So what about the other numbers on the tag?

BodyNo: This is a number which has single or dual letter prefix code which tells you the Fisher Body plant the body was built at, followed by the body number.

Top: This would be the convertible top color.
ACC: These codes indicate which accessories your car was built with.
I will add functionality at a later date to decode the remaining fields.

** NOTE ** The information provided through this database is as it is listed in the 1956 Edition of the Pontiac Master Parts Catalog. I am aware that in some instances such as the 1953/54 Pontiac cars with the "2537SD" body number. These cars were no longer considered a Super Deluxe, but rather a Custom Catalina.
