Hi All,
Just thought I’d make myself known to everyone. My name is Scott Baker and I live in Australia.
I’ve always been into American cars, and over the years I’ve imported quite a few. A 1959 Cadillac, a 1955 Cadillac, 2 1950 Buicks and a 1958 Buick, and now this 1951 Pontiac Cheiftian convertible (photos attached). I’ve sold on most of the cars (kept a 1950 Buick fastback) but I intend to keep the Pontiac.
My Pontiac is actually still in AZ at the moment (waiting on my transport company to pick it up!) but I expect I’ll take delivery of it here in Australia late Jan.
I just want to thank Dave for putting this great site together! I just love it.
Also thanks to Dave, and “The Cheif” for advice with the car, and also in the Cheif’s case, finding parts for my car and sending them to me (what a top bloke!). I just want to say I look forward to many years of happy motoring in the Pontiac, and many happy hours talking Pontiacs with you guys!
I’ll be sure to let you all know when my new toy arrives
All the best from ‘Down under’
Regards
Scott

Hi Dave,
Here’s mine…..I’ve had it for 4 weeks. These are truely beuatiful cars.
I’m currently stripping it down. I yanked the straight 8 and 3 speed trans. The engine isn’t running but turns over. Its been sitting since 68.

This is Ericks 1951 Pontiac. He says it has a flathead six that sounds great with straight pipes all the way back! Here’s a link to the video of his flathead – http://youtube.com/watch?v=VGIE0nXfFcs

I picked up my 51 chieftain in Aug of 07. It came home on a trailer, with the brake pedal stuck on the floor. the stright 8 ran but not well. At first I was going to gut it out and turn it in to a hot rod. After looking the car over a little better after i got it home, and findind out most of the car was still intacked. I just wanted to see it running down the road as is was. After e-baying my brains out, and many hours of work I had it running by Oct and took her to a local car meet just before Hollowen.
